Personal Statement

As someone born in the USA and based in Australia, returning to the USA to study is an incredibly exciting thought. I am particularly excited about the opportunity to compete in amateur basketball at a US college. Along with that, living away from my family and being more independent is another aspect of US college education that I am looking forward to, as it will give me a chance to grow as a person.

In this journey, my basketball and education goals include making a big difference to a college basketball team at the highest possible level, consistently putting maximum effort into both academics and basketball to achieve excellence in both, getting lifelong skills, making like-minded friends for life, and making sure that I have given it my all. I am motivated by my family (as most people are!), but particularly by my parents who have put in just as much if not more effort than I have, to ensure that I succeed and can reach my goals.

My family is both my motivator and my support network, as my parents have encouraged both my academic and basketball activities and have help me stay organised to juggle the two sides. They have also encouraged me to spend a year in Serbia at the Vizura basketball academy, helping me extend my basketball skills and improve my match play. My Sydney basketball coach is also a big part of my support network, as someone who has made a tremendous difference to my game, and who just wants to ensure the best for me.

To the school that I attend, I will come with a very international perspective, a broad, IB-based education, high-quality academics elite basketball skills and experience of playing competitive basketball at a high level in Serbia.  I will be my usual high-energy, motivated student and player, I will bring my on and off the court leadership skills, and I will also bring my very friendly and team-minded personality.
